Watching Grand Circus
It was ages since I watched a circus
till yesterday when I watched the Grand circus perform in Kochi. The entrance
fee to the spectacular performance was almost nothing. Simply as the name the
performance was grand. There were a host of unique events new to even the
active circus spectators. The show started with the hilarious performance of
the clowns. There were also a crowd of female performers impressing the
audience with their agility and expertise in acrobatics.
The grand circus was
devoid of any even common in the circuses in fact, it had plenty of more unique
events. In one such event the host started drinking jugs of water and other
coloured liquids. Finally he poured out two jugs of different coloured liquid
and amazed the crowd. I still wonder how he managed to drink all the water and
yet fill the jugs from his mouth! Where did he store the water??
While enjoying the circus, I couldn’t
stop wondering about the perils of the poor circus performers. Now while there
are plenty of advanced forms of entertainment, these performers are easily
sidelined and left to suffer in poverty. We should help the talented performers
survive and appreciate their skills. We should give them equal opportunity to
perform and express our interests in their art. Truly watching the circus
enriched me with better culture and awareness besides the pleasures that this
form of entertainment bestowed me with.
